Curriculum Structure

The CEIBS Global EMBA is a rigorous academic programme designed for experienced executives and entrepreneurs who are looking to broaden their general management skills and knowledge.

It is a dynamic and multi-faceted programme, underpinned by four pillars:

1. Leadership and personal development

The programme opens with a week-long module that focuses exclusively on developing your leadership capabilities. In this module, you will be assigned an executive coach who works with you throughout the module to help you discover your own leadership style. With this foundation in place, you can supplement your leadership development through the Organisational Behaviour module; leadership electives, and comprehensive reflection sessions in the programme's Exit Module.

2. Business fundamentals

In order to provide you with the resources for continued growth in your career, the Global EMBA curriculum will build a strong analytical foundation, based on the latest developments in the functional areas of Organisational Behaviour, Operations Management, Marketing, Financial Reporting, Managerial Accounting, and Corporate Finance.

3. Strategic Capabilities and Integrating Business Functions

The programme will raise your business acumen and strategic ability through dynamic modules such as: Entrepreneurial Management, Strategic Management, and an interactive Strategic Simulation. These modules will show you how to tie the various business functions together successfully. You will also work on a ten-month-long Capstone Project in a team of five to apply your classroom learning to a real strategic issue faced by an organisation, providing a hands-on, integrated experience.

4. Global Journey

To help you excel in the global arena, you will have the opportunity to experience the global business environment first-hand. You will choose from 8 Global Elective modules delivered in 8 countries across 5 continents.

Local Electives
You can take local electives in Shanghai, Zurich, Accra, Beijing and Shenzhen. Chinese speakers can also join a selection of electives together with the CEIBS Chinese EMBA programme. The number of electives depends on the length and credit value of each elective; but on average, each participant will take 4 to 6 local electives and each elective lasts for 2 to 4 days.

Global Electives
You will have the opportunity to choose from 8 Global Elective Modules across 5 continents. All participants must choose at least 2 Global Electives in order to graduate.

Not only do the global electives give participants the chance to experience the global business environment, in addition, some electives will be combined with the Global EMBA programme of IESE Business School from Spain. In this way you can further expand your network by interacting with business leaders based all over the world. Global electives will also be opened to CEIBS Global EMBA alumni, offering further networking within the CEIBS community, and providing lifelong learning opportunities for Global EMBA graduates.

Capstone Project

The Group Project is an integral part of the curriculum, and it is vital to your success in the Global EMBA programme. In this project you will apply management theories and framework learned in the classroom to real-world business issues.

You will work in a small group to complete a project over a one-year period. This project will include attending an introductory lecture, topic selection, outlining your proposal, writing and revising your report, and giving an oral defence. Each group will be assigned a professor who will supervise the project and guide you and your team throughout the entire process.

Leadership Journey
The purpose of the Leadership Journey is to help you grow personally and professionally as a global leader. A critical component of the Global EMBA programme is an opportunity to provide an inflection point regarding your standing as a leader. We will conduct a comprehensive and professional 360 degree feedback instrument. You will receive an in-depth report of your colleagues', supervisors' and subordinates' assessment of your strengths and weaknesses as a potential leader. You will then work with a coach to develop a personal plan of action to engage in a follow-up assessment.

Toon Howe Tan

Managing Director & Vice President
Cabot Corporation
Global EMBA 2010

"After 20 years of work experience covering most of Asia in industrial sales and management, I felt that I needed to resharpen myself and so joined CEIBS Global EMBA. Very quickly after joining the programme, I found that you need to be team player to fully integrate into the programme and start learning. Within a team, individual leadership will emerge and there will be opportunities for everyone to step up. Friendships formed and blossomed as the programme took hold. We found ourselves organising after-class events just to celebrate our uniqueness. We had countries or regions organise themes related to their home country so all the classmates can get to know each of our cultures."

"I founded my own company that now operates across Africa, based on a business plan idea conceived during the Entrepreneurship module of the Global EMBA. Now, as an entrepreneur, what we learn in class is directly relevant to aspects of my daily business. This is further enhanced by the diverse nature of the class. I really feel like the world is in my class."
